The Bigi Pan is a nature area located on the west coast of Suriname in the districts of Coronie and Nickerie. The area (about 68,000 hectares) consists of creeks, mangroves, wet and dry marshes. Bigi Pan (“Big Lake”) is the biggest lagoon in Suriname and it’s a real attraction for nature and bird lovers. There are already 122 different types of birds spotted in this area, of which 72 could be seen throughout the whole year, including the red ibis, osprey, terns and waders.
