Galibi is a nature reserve that has a size of 4000 hectares and is located on the Atlantic Ocean, by the mouth of the Marowijne River in northeast Suriname, at the border of French Guyana. It is known for sea turtles that lay their eggs there.
It finds its charms in the combination of pristine nature of the beaches and the amer-Indian culture in villages Christiaan and Langamankondre at the mouth of the Marowijne River.
This tour also includes a visit to Saint-Laurent-du-Maroni. Here you will visit the old prison where, among others, Papillon was imprisoned. On certain days a guided tour in French is possible for a fee.
